KAYAK SAFARI ON THE VRBAS RIVER: LEARNING, RECREATION AND ROMANCE
Recreation and adventure in which many things can be seen and learned, including how to become a kayaker. Not really a professional, but at least a kayaker for his soul, who can row down the Vrbas River whenever he wants to.
This is roughly how the famous kayaker Darko Savic imagined everything, and then, thanks to the support of Prointer ITSS and the GoPro brand, he realized the “Kayak Safari” project.
Water safari should bring kayaking rowing closer to all ages and generations, and thanks to slightly different, wider and more stable boats, amateurs can also embark on this endeavor.
“This idea was running through my head for years, but it lacked both time and money, and then Prointer helped out and we managed to get the necessary equipment. This type of activity involves spending time on the river and in nature, promotes the natural resources of our environment, gathers younger generations and represents a new tourist opportunity for Banja Luka”, explains Darko, whose endeavor is best evidenced by top footages made by GoPro, and as of today, a promotional video made by the friends of the project.
Since the beginning of the project, a great number of excursions have been organized for children, and almost everything has been learned about rowing and kayaking by kids from two Banja Luka kindergartens in a very specific way. Darko, while rowing on the Vrbas River, told them that the Indians were the first to ride a kayak and canoe, and then from nowhere an “Indian” appeared and caused a real delight.
“I believe that children will remember that experience and maybe some of them will do kayaking professionally in the future. Our goal was to show the kids first of all that it is a wonderful skill, and we plan to have about 80 percent of all activities aimed at younger generations next season. This is, among other things, planned as a “school of water sport”, says Darko.
There are more plans for the next season, and by then, the remaining equipment will arrive, which is delayed due to pandemic and closed borders. It is important that what was purchased served the purpose, and Darko especially liked that it also served love. He brags that several “tours for two” have already been rowed, so the Vrbas Safari could also become a synonym for romance.
